This page sets the five venues of Winnipeg and South Beach side by side, season by season. Their floor hours hold all year; what changes is the trip, from parking and the ride home to a bed nearby.

Reading the table of the five

Parking under cover comes first: Club Regent Casino has a free parkade connected to the Canad Inns hotel. For Shark Club Gaming Centre, Cityplace has covered Lot 1, open 24/7, and heated indoor Lot 4, closed on weekends. McPhillips Station Casino, Club West Gaming Lounge at Assiniboia Downs and South Beach Casino & Resort publish none. Winnipeg Transit route FX3 stops at Club Regent, and Cityplace counts dozens of connections within one block. Bus tours go to Club Regent, McPhillips Station and South Beach; staff at the first two may request a taxi or Handi-Transit.

At closing time, Club Regent and McPhillips Station shut at 5 AM after Friday and Saturday, 3 AM otherwise. South Beach closes at 3 AM; Shark Club and Club West close at 1 AM. For a bed nearby, Club Regent has the Canad Inns hotel and South Beach its own 93-room hotel. McPhillips Station uses Stay & Play partner hotels, and Assiniboia Downs names a Motel 6 in Headingley.

What holds in every season

The door opens at the same hour in every season. Club Regent Casino and McPhillips Station Casino open at 10 AM every day. Both close at 3 AM Sunday to Thursday and at 5 AM on Friday and Saturday. Shark Club Gaming Centre and Club West Gaming Lounge at Assiniboia Downs are open 10 AM to 1 AM daily. South Beach Casino & Resort keeps 10 AM to 3 AM daily.

Table players find live games daily from 5:30 PM to 3:00 AM at Club Regent and McPhillips Station. At Shark Club, blackjack, roulette and double deck run 3:30 pm to 1 am, 7 days a week. Club West has no casino table games. South Beach lists table games, including single-zero roulette, from 5 PM to 2 AM Thursday and Friday and 4 PM to 2 AM on Saturday. On Sunday they run 3 PM to 1 AM, and they are closed Monday to Wednesday.

Spring, fall and the track

Spring and fall sit between winter and summer by the guide's own rule: March to May, then September to November. Of what the five venues publish, live thoroughbred racing at Assiniboia Downs is what runs only in season. The track sets the dates and keeps its own events calendar; the LGCA publishes no race calendar. Televised racing, the Club West Gaming Lounge at Assiniboia Downs and the restaurant run all year.

Arriving on a race day, racegoers get free admission and free parking. Bets on the races are cash only, and there are ATMs on site.

Beyond the floor, Club Regent Casino has its Event Centre and the attached Canad Inns hotel. South Beach Casino & Resort has its own 93-room hotel with a pool and lists beaches and golf courses nearby. Assiniboia Downs adds televised racing daily to its live racing in season.

Do the venues change their hours in winter?

None of the five venues published different hours for a season when the guide checked. Holiday hours should be checked on each venue's own site.

Which venues have covered or indoor parking?

Club Regent Casino has a free parkade connected to its hotel; Shark Club Gaming Centre has covered Cityplace Lot 1 and indoor Lot 4, closed on weekends. McPhillips Station Casino, Assiniboia Downs and South Beach Casino & Resort publish no covered parking.

Which venue is outside the city?

South Beach Casino & Resort, on Highway 59 near Lake Winnipeg, is 63.2 km from Winnipeg City Hall in a straight line. The guide computes that straight line from OpenStreetMap coordinates, and it is not a driving distance.
